Information For Reviewers

Bagcilar Medical Bulletin is periodical publication of University of Health Sciences Bagcilar Training and Research Hospital. It is a quarterly, open access and peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes experimental and clinical research manuscripts in all fields of medicine, interesting case studies and reviews of experienced authors. The manuscripts sent for publication are considered for categories in below:

Bagcilar Medical Bulletin aims to publish original articles with the highest scientific and ethical standards. The journal encourages global information exchange on an open access basis. The editorial board and publisher of the journal follow international standards of research and publication ethics. Editors adopt the rules of publication ethics as explained by WAME and ICMJE and the guidelines of COPE are recommended. The journal follow international principles regarding human and animal rights, informed consent and conflict of interest.

The Review System

The journal operates a double blind review process. Only those manuscripts approved by its every individual author and that were not published before in or submitted to another journal are accepted for evaluation. The editor-in-chief is responsible of the editorial and scientific content of the journal and the timing of publication of the content. All manuscripts are reviewed for these criterias:


Manuscripts are to be submitted online via journal's submission system and reviewers should use reviewer login on the journal's web site http://www. All papers are reviewed by at least two members of the journal's board of referees. In case of lack of accordance between two referees, the paper is sent to a third one. The identities of referees are not disclosed and all the review process is to be handled in confidence; the material of the manuscripts should not be used or shared in any way until they have been published.

Evaluation reports are sent to the author. After corrections are made in accordance to the comments and recommendations of referees, corrected paper should be sent by using the web tool, together with a cover letter where corrections and answers to the critics/recommendations are mentioned. The "copyright transfer form" should be sent along with the submission of the article. Editor makes the final decision whether to accept or reject the article. The journal's submission system informs the authors with a notification of the final decision.

Reviewers are expected to comment on potential research or publication misconduct such as unethical research design, duplication, plagiarism, etc. Submitted papers are screened with plagiarism software to detect instances of overlapping and similar text. In case that the reviewers have any potential competing interests, they have to inform the editor before agreeing to review an article.

The journal publishes the reviewer list every year in the Ocstober issue along with its special thanks to reviewers.

Guidelines for conducting a review

A reviewer should consider the following in accepting, declining, starting and reporting a review.

- When you receive an invitation for review, make your decision as soon as possible and respond without delay.

- The manuscpript should be within the scope of your area of expertise. If it is not, you should decline.

- In case of potential conflict of interest, you should inform the editor about it.

- In case of potential ethical concerns such as plagiarism, fraud or other, inform the editor about it; visit the ICMJE's, WAME's and COPE's sites regarding the issue.

- Keep in mind that the materials you receive are confidential and you cannot share them and you cannot share any information about the review with anyone, unless you have permission and/or authorization from the editor.

- State your overall opinion, comments and any possible deficiencies constructively and thoughtfully, without using personal remarks and details.

- Make clear that your comments and judgements are either your own opinion or they are derived from the data.

- State a clear recommendation fitting to one of the three options: rejection, acceptance without revision, revision.

-Explain your reason of rejection and required minor or major revision.


- Potential conflicts of interests, which would interfere with your objectivity.

- Potential research or publication misconduct.

- Suitability to the journal's standards.

- Title and abstract quality.

- Scientific structure: Precisely stated problem, method, results, conclusions.

- Novelty and significance of information.

- Quality of the language.

- Appropriateness of terminology used.

- Adequacy of the references.

- Sufficiency of the figures, tables.

-The priority for publishing this article.
